The Coming Genocide

I see where an historic boulder will be removed from the campus at UW Madison, because a 1925 newspaper article had referred to the rock as a “nigger-head”. This caused everyone to fail his exams 95 years later, or something.

The term “nigger-head” also appears in the poetry of Robert W. Service. It was period slang for a dark-coloured boulder sticking up out of melting snow.

My heart sank. If they can cancel a 70-ton rock on this flimsy a basis, there is literally nothing they won’t cancel.

When people think of the word Genocide, they think of systematic industrial extermination of the kind the Nazis practiced. But genocide can happen without literal extermination. One such genocide is famously going on in China right now, the Uighur situation. The Uighurs are being treated with great physical harshness, but outright murder isn’t the main plan. Instead the Uighurs are rigorously denied their religious practices, their cultural traditions, and their community customs. Their women are forcibly impregnated by Chinese men, to dilute their bloodlines. Over time, the Uighurs will not be recognizable as a race, as an ethny, or as a religious or social identity distinct from China.

America is in the process of a similar kind of genocide, a comprehensive assault on our shared culture, on our social contract, on our traditional freedoms. It is being perpetrated by ignorant, humorless terrorists, some of whom call themselves “woke”.

Let’s just consider what “woke” means to “culture” in the narrow sense we generally use that word. It means annihilation; death without rebirth.

Warner can’t publish a complete collection of their historic Looney Tunes; Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs is considered beyond the pale. Warner did republish some of the older cartoons featuring black stereotypes, but every time that DVD loaded you had to listen to Whoopi Goldberg tell you for five minutes what a bad person you are for wanting to watch cartoons featuring black stereotypes.

They did the same thing recently for Blazing Saddles; a solemn content warning for one of the funniest movies of all time. Did you know that movie was actually a parody of racist attitudes? Golly Gee! Wokeness is fundamentally immature and unserious.

It is also incredibly dangerous. What they want is the power to ban. They could get it. Major Media, Silicon Valley and the Democrats want that power too.

The implacable nature of Wokeness is that you can never be Woke enough. Ban the most offensive thing you can find. Now that you can’t find it any more, something else is the most offensive thing you can find, so now ban that. Literally everything is not Woke enough. Literally everything is what they would ban.

They might start with Blazing Saddles, but then the whole Mel Brooks ouvre is tainted, so it’ll have to go too. Mark Twain and Herman Melville are easy targets. Conan the Barbarian had a white hero defeat a black antagonist, so no more Schwarzenegger. Same with Alien, so no Ridley Scott. Some people think Woody Allen is a child molester, so get rid of him too.

And so on. until everything from Betty and Veronica to Chopin is forbidden. At that point, it’s never America again. If we can’t share our cultural legacy, we are no longer identifiable as a people. To the Woke, that’s a feature, not a bug.

Obviously it’s not possible to create a total cultural vacuum. They intend for Woke music, literature and art to replace what is taken away. The ensuing creative wasteland is horrific to contemplate.

It all seems so far-fetched. But academic leftists really talk like this. They really want to throw it all away, all culture, high and low. It seems unfeasible.

And yet, with nothing but a flurry of words, they blew away a 70-ton boulder.
